Premier Surgical Sponsors 2009 Buddy’s Race Against Cancer

Premier Surgical Associates is proud to sponsor the 2009 Buddy's Race Against Cancer, which will be held on Sunday, Nov. 15, in Knoxville's World's Fair Park and benefits Thompson Cancer Survival Center (TCSC). The event features a 5K Walk ‘n Run, "Two-Mile Trek," and one-mile "Walk in the Park."
Premier's Randal O. Graham, MD, FACS, and wife Marguerite Graham are co-chairs of the event. Both have participated in Buddy's Race since its inception 16 years ago. "As a surgeon who treats cancer patients who otherwise might not be diagnosed or treated without Thompson's Cancer Outreach program, I am very aware of the benefit TCSC provides to people in our community with limited access to care," said Randy Graham. "Everyone's help is needed, and everyone's help is appreciated."
Proceeds from Buddy's Race Against Cancer benefit Thompson's Cancer Outreach Services program, which provides thousands of free and low-cost cancer screenings and education to the medically underserved throughout East Tennessee. Goals for 2009 are 5,000 participants and $420,000 raised.
Race day registration begins at 1 p.m. Participants can enjoy activities and live entertainment by Second Opinion until 2:15 p.m., when a tribute to cancer survivors will begin. The 5K Walk ‘n Run, "Two-Mile Trek," and one-mile "Walk in the Park" will start at 3 p.m.
Following the race, a meal by Buddy's bar-b-q will be available for all registered participants, and awards will be given three deep in the 5K for top male and female overall, masters (40+), cancer survivors and all age divisions.
Entry fees are $30 for adults (age 19 and over) and $15 for youth (age 18 and under). The deadline for team registration is Friday, Oct. 23. Individual participants may register until Friday, Oct. 30.
